This week in 1983, Please don’t fall in love by Cliff Richard reached its highest position of number 7 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 three weeks previously at number 34 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 10 for a final two weeks in the top 10 and then spent the last two weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.

Please don’t fall in love was released on the EMI record label and was the fiftieth top 10 hit for Cliff Richard in the UK. It was taken from the gold-selling album Silver, which peaked at number 7 in the UK album chart. The single was certified silver.
