Forty years ago this week, Amoureuse by Kiki Dee reached its highest position of number 13 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 38. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 40 for another six weeks.

Amoureuse was released on the Rocket record label and was the first top 40 hit for Kiki Dee in the UK. It was taken from the album Loving and free, which failed to enter the UK album chart.

In 1976, the song was re-issued as a double A-side with the album’s title track and peaked again at number 13. The original version of the song, in French, was written and recorded by Veronique Sanson in 1972.
