This week in 1984, Run runaway by Slade reached its highest position of number 7 in the UK singles chart in its fifth week in the top 40 and second in the top 10. After one week at its peak position, the song dropped into the lower top 40 for the final three weeks of its chart life.

Run runaway was released on the RCA record label and was the last of sixteen top 10 hits for Slade in the UK. It was taken from the album The amazing kamikaze syndrome, which failed to enter the UK album top 40, peaking at number 49.
