The reflex by Duran Duran replaced Hello by Lionel Richie at the top of the UK singles chart thirty years ago this week, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 5. It spent four weeks at number 1 and then made way for Wake me up before you go go by Wham!.

After falling from the top spot, the song stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks, both in the top 5. A further four weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.

The reflex was released on the EMI record label and was the second of two UK number 1 hits for Duran Duran. It was taken from the platinum-selling album Seven and the ragged tiger, which spent one week at the top of the UK album chart.
