Love Is All Around – Wet Wet Wet

Love is all around by Wet Wet Wet replaced Come on you reds by the Manchester United Football Squad at the top of the UK singles chart this week in 1994, having entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 4. The song stayed at number 1 for an incredible fifteen weeks before making way for Saturday night by Whigfield.

After falling from the top spot, the record spent three more weeks in the top 10, two of them in the top 5. It then dropped into the lower top 40 for the last four weeks of its chart life.

Love is all around was released on the Precious Organisation record label and was the last of three UK number 1 hits for Wet Wet Wet. It was recorded for the film Four weddings and a funeral and appeared on its soundtrack album.

The song was also added to the band’s triple-platinum-selling album Picture this, which spent three weeks at the top of the UK album chart in 1995. The single was certified double-platinum. The original version of the song was recorded by the Troggs in 1967 when it reached number 5.
