Shine – Aswad

Aswad took this track into the UK top 10 for six weeks in 1994.

Twenty years ago this week, Shine by Aswad reached its highest position of number 5 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 five weeks previously at number 28 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the song stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks and then spent the final four weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.

Shine was released on the Bubblin’ record label and was the second of two UK top 10 hits for Aswad. It was taken from the album Rise and shine, which reached number 38 in the UK album chart. The single was certified silver.
