Summerlove Sensation – Bay City Rollers

This track by the Bay City Rollers spent four weeks in the UK top 10 in 1974.

Forty years ago this week, Summerlove sensation by the Bay City Rollers reached its highest position of number 3 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 40 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 5 for a final week in the top 10 and then spent the last four weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.

Summerlove sensation was released on the Bell record label and was the fourth of ten UK top 10 hits for the Bay City Rollers. It was included on the platinum-selling album Rollin’, which spent four weeks at the top of the UK albums chart later in 1974. The single was certified silver.
