Walk This Way – Sugababes Vs Girls Aloud

This charity single by the Sugababes vs Girls Aloud spent one week at the top of the UK chart in 2007.

Walk this way by the Sugababes vs Girls Aloud replaced Shine by Take That at the top of the UK singles chart ten years ago this week in is first week of release. It stayed at number 1 for one week and then made way for (I’m gonna be) 500 miles by the Proclaimers featuring Brian Potter & Andy Pipkin.

After falling from the top spot, the song spent one more week in the top 10 at number 2. It then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final two weeks of its chart life.

Walk this way was released on the Fascination / Island record label and was the fifth UK number 1 hit for the Sugababes and the third for Girls Aloud. It was the official single for the 2007 Comic Relief charity appeal.

The original version of the song was recorded by Aerosmith in 1975 but did not enter the UK chart. A cover version by Run DMC in 1986, which featured backing by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, peaked at number 8.
