Forty years ago this week, I don’t want to put a hold on you by Berni Flint reached its highest position of number 3 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 five weeks previously at number 29 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the song stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks, one of them in the top 5. A further two weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.

I don’t want to put a hold on you was released on the EMI record label and was the only UK top 10 hit for Berni Flint. It was included on an album of the same name that reached number 37 in the UK albums chart later in 1977. The single was certified silver.
