This week in 1967, Ha! Ha! Said the clown by Manfred Mann reached its highest position of number 4 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 17 and broke into the top 10 a week later. After two weeks at its peak position, the song fell to number 7 for a final week in the top 10 and then spent the last four weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.

Ha! Ha! Said the clown was released on the Fontana record label and was the ninth UK top 10 hit for Manfred Mann. It was included on the album Mighty Garvey, which failed to enter the UK albums chart in 1968.
