This week in 1987, The slightest touch by Five Star reached its highest position of number 4 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 14 and broke into the top 10 a week later. After one week at its peak position, the song stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks, one of them in the top 5, and then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final three weeks of its chart life.

The slightest touch was released on the Tent record label and was the last of six UK top 10 hits for Five Star. It was taken from the quadruple-platinum-selling album Silk and steel, which spent one week at the top of the UK albums chart.
