Have I The Right – Dead End Kids

This cover version by the Dead End Kids spent four weeks in the UK top 10 in 1977.

Forty years ago this week, Have I the right by the Dead End Kids reached its highest position of number 6 in the UK singles chart in its fifth week in the top 40 and second in the top 10. After two weeks at its peak position, the song fell to number 7 for a final week in the top 10. It then spent the last two weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.

Have I the right was released on the CBS record label and was the only UK top 10 hit for the Dead End Kids. It was taken from the album Breakout, which did not enter the UK albums chart.

The original version of the song was recorded by the Honeycombs in 1964. The single spent two weeks at the top of the UK chart.
