Fifty years ago this week, Happy together by the Turtles was at its highest position of number 12 in the UK singles chart for the second of two weeks, having entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 36. After two weeks at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 40 for another five weeks.

Happy together was released on the London record label and was the first of three top 10 hits for the Turtles in the UK. It was included on an album of the same name that reached number 18 in the UK albums chart later in 1967. The single was a US number 1.

The song returned to the chart in 1991 when Jason Donovan recorded a cover version. The single peaked two places higher than the original at number 10.
