Ten years ago this week, 12:51 by the Strokes entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 7. After one week at its peak position, the song dropped to number 22 for a final week in the top 40.

12:51 was released on the Rough Trade record label and was the first top 10 hit for the Strokes in the UK. It was the first track taken from the platinum-selling album Room on fire, which peaked at number 2 in the UK albums chart.
